Peer Groups in Violation aka IPS Alignment Warnings
When you are ready to generate a Monitoring Report you will land on a screen with a brief overview and the first area at the top of the screen will show a glimpse of the STATE OF AFFAIRS. You may see a box that shows PEER GROUPS IN VIOLATION, such as the example below. These ‘violations’ relate to the Peer Group/Allocation settings of the Investment Policy.
If you generate the Monitoring Report document you will see the same area on the first page of the report (following the Table of Contents). In the report the related message will be labeled IPS ALIGNMENT WARNINGS.
In order to correct the peer group violation/s relative to your Investment Policy, you must proceed with the following steps:
1. Select your client
2. Click the Investment Policies tab at the top
3. Click on your Active policy and then click on the button in the bottom right hand corner labeled "REVIEW POLICY"
4. Click continue until you get to the screen labeled Asset Allocation
5. There are two (2) ways to correct your Peer Group selection to match the peer groups associated with your current holdings.
- Click on IMPORT FROM HOLDINGS. By doing this the system will automatically recognize all of the peer groups listed under your client's holdings and include those in the IPS. This way you won't see any "Peer Groups in Violation" listed on your monitoring report.
- OR, click EDIT PEER GROUP SELECTION and manually select all of the Peer Groups that are represented in the client’s holdings.
- Finish the Investment Policy Statement by clicking the prompts in the lower right of the window: Create Policy, then Generate Client Ready Deliverable, and finally Update Policy & Monitor Account(s)
PLEASE NOTE: You are unable to activate an updated policy until the latest Monitoring Report is completed or moved back to draft. The Monitoring Report can be moved 'Back to Draft' by clicking the action button “⋮” in the top left corner of the Monitoring Report overview and selecting that option.
