You are able to create, edit, and remove historical time periods in the Fiduciary Focus Toolkit going all the way back to the year 2000. Within a client account the holdings are attached to a Quarter, e.g., Q1 2020, and Fi360 will automatically accrue quarterly history for your accounts over time. This feature is very useful in providing you with a historical representation of how your investments have changed over time. It will allow you to track which investments have been added or removed over the past few years, how long a fund has been on your watchlist, and asset growth. The instructions below will explain/illustrate how to utilize Quarterly Tracking of Holdings.
Select the Client and then the Client Account that you are working in. Once you click on the name of the Client Account and are on the HOLDINGS screen you will notice the 3 Quarterly Tracking of Holdings buttons, which are located in the upper right side of the screen as shown below.
ADD QUARTER
In order to add a new historical period to your Holdings, simply click on the Add Quarter button. From here you can choose which quarterly period, as well as the year for the historical period you wish to add. To select the year, click on the dropdown box that says 2020, and you will then be able to select any year as far back as 2020.
After adding a quarterly period, you will be brought to the Holdings page for the newly created period. The system will set the watch list evaluation for this newly created time period unless data is not available to do so.
In order to navigate back and forth between the quarterly time periods, select the time period dropdown located in the upper right side of the Holdings screen, and click on the time period you wish to view.
DELETE QUARTER
Similarly, you are able to delete a quarter by selecting the quarter that you wish to delete, and then click the Delete Quarter button.
This action will delete the quarterly period selected and all of the data that is associated with that period. You cannot undo this action, however, you will be able to create the same time period again.
Additionally, you are able to create the upcoming quarterly period in advance of the current quarter-end, which will allow you to get ahead and better prepare for the upcoming quarter. To do so, follow the same guidance (above) under ADD QUARTER and choose the next upcoming quarterly period instead of selecting a previous quarterly period.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS & IMPLICATIONS
- INVESTMENTS BY QUARTER: You can filter your investments by quarter, which will allow you to analyze applicable metrics at that time. To do so click on the INVESTMENTS tab on the dashboard on the left side of your screen. Select the time period from the dropdown located above the (investment) name column and choose the desired quarterly period.
- MONITORING REPORTS for HISTORICAL QUARTERS: You have the ability to run a watch list evaluation (using your investment policy watch list triggers) and a corresponding Monitoring Report for any historical quarters you have available. For example, if you want to run a Q4 2019 Monitoring Report and it is now June, 2022, you can do so (as long as you have the Q4 2019 quarterly period created/available for a given client).
- INTEGRATION PROVIDER SYNC PROCESS: Our integration provider 'sync' process has been updated so quarter-end holdings remain matched with quarter-end investment data, and new holdings data from daily or monthly feeds are pre-stored in the FUTURE/UPCOMING quarter that they represent.
- RESEARCH REPORTS for HISTORICAL MONTHS or QUARTERS: You have the ability to generate Research Reports based on historical time periods, i.e, months or quarters.
- BATCH MONITORING REPORTS for HISTORICAL QUARTERS: You have the ability to select previous quarterly periods when utilizing the Batch Report feature.
- MONITORING REPORT - STATE OF AFFAIRS SECTION: Within the State of Affairs section in the Monitoring Report you are now able to show trending data and quarters on watch for your applicable investments that have been flagged for watch.
