Overview
This article outlines the continuing education requirements for Fi360 designees, detailing the number of CE hours needed annually for AIF®, AIFA®, and PPC® designations. It specifies accepted CE sources and highlights that most hours must come from Fi360 or approved providers, allowing for limited self-reported hours. It also covers the eligible activity types for CE credit and emphasizes the importance of maintaining documentation for audits.

Fi360 has implemented a policy regarding continuing education (CE) for its designees, which outlines the requirements for maintaining professional credentials effectively. Under this policy, a maximum of two CE hours can be sourced from non-reviewed and non-approved reporting sources, meaning they cannot be self-reported by the designee.
Accepted Sources of CE:
- Free weekly webinars
- Sessions at the annual Fi360 Conference*
- Free sessions available in the CE catalog within the Designee Portal
- Sessions provided by pre-approved CE providers
- Any organization or event included in Fi360’s outside CE provider program
Designees may still earn and self-report up to two CE hours from non-vetted sources such as authorship, teaching, or attending live events, as long as these sources meet Fi360’s requirements for acceptable topics.
Annual CE Requirements by Designation:
- AIF® Designation: Accumulate and report six (6) CE hours annually, with at least four (4) hours from Fi360 or its approved providers.
- AIFA® Designation: Accumulate and report ten (10) CE hours annually, with at least eight (8) hours from Fi360 or its approved providers.
- PPC® Designation: Accumulate and report six (6) CE hours annually, with at least four (4) hours from Fi360 or its approved providers.
General CE Policies:
Each CE hour is based on a 50-minute duration and may be reported in half-hour increments after the first hour. CE credits should be rounded down to the nearest half hour.
- CE hours may be reported anytime but must be earned during the current reporting period, defined as the 12 months preceding the "Next Renewal Date". For first-year designees, the renewal period begins the month after the award date.
- Excess CE hours cannot be applied to future periods or split between periods. Duplicate session reporting is prohibited.
- AIF® and AIFA® Designees participating in CEFEX certifications can earn a maximum of 3 and 6 Fi360 CE hours, respectively, per cycle.
- CE hours from one designation can count toward another if earned in the current reporting period for each.
Activity Requirements:
CE must be relevant, enhance professional competency, and meet specific criteria, including credible development and documentation, a minimum of 50 minutes, and fall within accepted format types.
Format Types:
- Live Activity: Includes courses, workshops, live webinars, and conferences.
- Self-Study Activity: Involves pre-recorded or self-paced content, requiring average completion time or assessment questions for credit determination.
- Teaching and Authorship: CE can be earned for instructing or writing on accepted topics, not previously reported in the same period.
Activities like reading books or articles, self-publishing, and day-to-day business tasks are generally not accepted.
Recordkeeping and Audit:
Maintain documentation for one-year post-reporting period. Audits may require submission of proof within ten business days, including course names, dates, and CE credits. Non-compliant activities have a 30-day resolution window.
Documentation must be kept for potential audits. For more on acceptable topics, refer to the linked article. (insert acceptable topics article)
