Q: Which renewal cycle is displayed in my designation account?
A: If you have more than one active designation, the renewal cycle listed on the Continuing Education page is reflective of your AIF® Designation renewal cycle.
Q. When can I start to accrue CE for my next renewal cycle?
A: Designees can earn CE throughout most of the year, and Broadridge Fi360 offers several ways to do so. The main exception involves the grace period.
Designees who renew after their renewal date and use the grace period may earn CE toward their current cycle. Those who renew before their renewal date, however, cannot begin earning CE for the next cycle until the grace period ends. Please see this article on Designation Recertification Requirements for more information.
Q: How many hours do I need to renew?
A: AIF/PPC® Designees are required to accrue and report a total of six (6) hours of continuing education (CE), with a minimum of four (4) hours delivered by Fi360 or one of its approved CE providers. AIFA® designees must accrue and report ten (10) hours of CE, with at least eight (8) hours from Fi360 or its approved providers. For all designations, up to two (2) hours of CE may be earned and self-reported from non-vetted sources. For detailed information on how to submit CE obtained from external sources, please refer to this article.
Q: When will my pre-approved CE be uploaded?
A: The Continuing Education Provider is allotted a period of up to 30 days post-event to submit the attendance record. Although there are instances where the attendance record is not received within this timeframe, the CE Team possesses the capability to add CE hours at the designee's request, once verification with the Provider has been completed. To facilitate a more efficient tracking process, we encourage the submission of a certificate of completion, course completion certificate, or transcripts, which can expedite the verification and reporting of CE hours.
Q: How do I know if my CE is acceptable?
A: To determine if your Continuing Education (CE) is acceptable, please ensure that the activity complies with the learning objectives and competencies associated with your designation and follows our established guidelines and policies. We do not pre-approve individual CE activities, so it is important to review the criteria to assess suitability. You may earn and self-report up to two hours from non-vetted sources, such as authorship, teaching, or attending live events, provided they fall under the topics approved in our continuing education policies. For detailed guidance, please refer to our guidelines and policies.
Q: Is Fi360 a registered CE sponsor for State Insurance?
A: Fi360 is not a sponsor for State Insurance due to the need for independent filings with each state. However, some participants have successfully independently filed with their respective states and received credit for Fi360 courses. If you wish to pursue this route, we would be pleased to provide any additional documentation you may need for your state filing.
Q: Does the CE that I complete for an Fi360 Designation meet other industry designations' CE requirements?
A: The Continuing Education (CE) you complete for an Fi360 Designation may align with the requirements of other industry designations; however, compatibility depends on each designation's specific standards. While Fi360 cannot guarantee compliance with all industry standards, we can provide vouchers for submission to CE governing bodies where we are not a recognized sponsor, allowing you to independently seek approval. For designations such as CFP, IWI, and IAR, where Fi360 is an approved sponsor, certain webinars are available as CE options, as they have been submitted and received approval under our sponsorship. Please note that each webinar must undergo an approval process to qualify for CE credit and we cannot guarantee approval.
Q: Does my AIF® Designation count towards IAR CE?
A: The AIF® program qualifies for IAR Continuing Education (CE) credit. However, please note that Designation courses completed before May 15, 2024, will not be eligible for inclusion in IAR CE requirements, as Broadridge and the AIF® program were not recognized as an approved CE provider before this date.
Q: Where can I get CE?
A: Broadridge Fi360 offers several opportunities for earning Continuing Education (CE) credits. You can participate in their monthly webinars to receive credits, explore the CE Catalog which gets updated with new courses every month, or visit one of their approved providers offering pre-approved courses. These options provide flexibility and variety in how you can maintain and enhance your professional skills and credentials.
